McLaren Greater Lansing Unveils New Hospital Operating Rooms with Virtual Reality
Imagine being able to walk through a room without taking a single step. That’s exactly what surgeons, nurses, and staff are able to do at McLaren Greater Lansing thanks to cutting-edge virtual reality technology.
While McLaren Greater Lansing’s new state-of-the-art hospital is a massive steel structure in the process of being built, the operating rooms are already constructed in a virtual setting using the exact specifications of what they will look like in the future. When staff put the on the virtual reality googles, they are instantly transported to a space full of virtual equipment that matches every detail of what they will use every day in the new hospital.
“This is an exciting experience that gives us the chance to see exactly what the rooms will look like and how uniquely functional they will be for our talented surgical teams,” said Kirk Ray, President and CEO of McLaren Greater Lansing. “Our staff has been involved in the design process for our new hospital from the very beginning. The input we’ve received from our physicians, nurses, and community are invaluable to making our new hospital a reality.”
